Sevens started 2008 with an
impressive victory over league
rivals Coyles. After the first match
between the teams was abandoned due
to Sevens player manager sustaining
a broken leg there was sure to be no
love loss in this fixture. True to
form Coyles came out studs flying
and received three bookings in the
first half which would have been
more had television replays been
available to the referee. Sevens did
their best to keep their heads, and
Steve did so in more ways than one
by scoring four headed goals in the
match. A Stevie header also set up
Robbie to score Sevens second to
make the half time score 2-0.
They came out strongly in the second
half and Stevie scored his next
three headers after good work from
Yorkie and Dave on the wings. Strong
performances throughout defence and
centre midfield meant Coyles were
never given chance to trouble the
'keeper. Robbie then scored his
second with a neat finish off the
post from the edge of the box and
substitute Timmy also got in on the
act by stroking home the seventh.
Great start to the new year and it
puts us 6 points and 15 goals clear
at the top of the league.
